Berry Cacao Protein Smoothie Bowl

Today I want to share a delicious recipe with you that will help fuel your body. It is a berry cacao protein smoothie bowl recipe. The berries in this bowl provide your body with vitamin C which helps your body make collagen which helps to maintain bones, muscles, skin, and tendons. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. Both of which can help you recover from injuries by reducing excess inflammation.

The bananas will provide your body with potassium. The cacao powder will give you more copper which also increases collagen production. The nuts and seeds from the granola will give you zinc, magnesium, and other important minerals. The berries, banana, and oats will give you fiber which helps make you feel full with out eating too much and help add bulk to your waste to make sure you eliminate regularly. The flaxseeds from the granola also help with regular eliminations.

The protein, mostly from the protein powder, will help you build muscle and strength, increase bone health, and recover from injuries. My favorite protein powder Garden of Life Raw Original Fit Protein Powder also has fiber, vitamin D, calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, and more essential vitamins and minerals.

Overall this smoothie bowl provides you with healthy sources of both macro and micro nutrients to fuel your body and promote good health. When you ask yourself whether or not something fuels your body, you most definitely don’t have to find out the specifics like I did for this smoothie bowl. It’s a pretty intuitive process to figure out if something is healthy or not. I’m just a nutrition geek and wanted to find out the details to share with you. Anyways I hope you enjoy this recipe!

With love from my kitchen to yours,

Kayley

Berry Cacao Protein Smoothie Bowl

Yields1 Serving
Total Time7 mins

Ingredients:

cup of mixed frozen berries (65g)
¾ scoop Garden of Life Raw Original Fit Protein Powder or your favorite protein powder
 1 Ice cube
 5 tbsp almond milk
 2 tsp cacao powder
 1 strawberry, sliced (30g)
¼ cup pecan coconut granola or your favorite granola (28g)

Recipe:
1

Combine the frozen banana, frozen berries, protein powder, ice cube, almond milk, and cacao powder in a blender and blend till smooth. If you do not have a fancy expensive blender, you might need to add more almond milk or some water to help it blend. If you have a blender tamper, I recommend using that to help move things around and blend easier.

Once blended, transfer smoothie to a bowl. Top with banana slices, strawberry slices, and granola. Serve and enjoy!

Nutrition is based on the products I use. I provide a nutrition table so that you can quickly check to see if your food products match or so that you can easily calculate the nutrition for any changes you want to make to the recipe. I think this helps if you have very specific diet goals and/or fitness and/or health goals. I also wanted you to be able to see exactly where I get the numbers for my nutrition facts so that you can see that they are reliable and learn more about macro breakdowns of food.
